2011 Big Day Prep Showdown on MRSN Matchups Announced

The matchups for the 2011 Big Day Prep Showdown VII football event Aug. 25-27 at Eastern Michigan’s Rynearson Stadium were announced today by Detroit Sports. The event will be broadcasted for the second year in a row by the Michigan Regional Sports Network.

Billed as the premier opening-week high school football event in the state, the showdown will feature:

Thursday, Aug. 25

• Clinton vs. Manchester, 5 p.m.

• Sterling Heights Stevenson vs. Howell, 8 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 26

• Ann Arbor Skyline vs. Hartland, 5 p.m.

• Chelsea vs. Novi, 8 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 27

• Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central vs. Plymouth, 11 a.m.

• TBD, 2 p.m.

• Detroit King vs. Birmingham Brother Rice, 5 p.m.

• Detroit Cass Tech vs. Farmington Hills Harrison, 8 p.m.

*Detroit Sports will announce a 2 p.m. game on Aug. 27 at a later date.

Four Area Players Selected For All Star Game To Be Broadcasted On MRSN

Four Flint-area athletes have been selected to play in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association's All-Star game. The game will be held June 25 at Central Michigan University.

Area players who were listed on rosters announced Sunday are: Running back Thomas Rawls of Flint Northern — who set a city rushing record this season — defensive back Chad Coleman of Flint Carman-Ainsworth, defensive lineman Ryan Hankins of Davison, and defensive lineman Kyle Fisher of Linden.

The game features the top graduating seniors from the state and will be broadcasted live for the second straight season on the Michigan Regional Sports Network (www.mrsn.us)

December 7, 2010-The Michigan Regional Sports Network (MRSN) announce a nine game broadcast package of Lapeer Loggers professional hockey beginning January 2. The Loggers are members of the All-American Hockey League (AAHL) in its first season. The games MRSN will broadcast are:

Cleveland edges Generals 4-3 Sunday

Blaine Marney's Power play goal midway in the third period lifted the Cleveland Lumberjacks to a 4-3 victory over the Flint Junior Generals in their 2010-11 home opener at Iceland Arenas. Jonathan Butitta had a goal and two assists for Cleveland (2-0). Andrew Lay scored twice for Flint (0-3), including the tying goal less than a minute before Marney's game winner. The Generals are home next weekend against the Pittsburgh Junior Penquins Saturday at 7:20 pm and Sunday at 2:20 pm. Both games will be webcasted on the Michigan Regional Sports Network.
