Cavs girls soccer wins Classic for 2nd straight year

Carman-Ainsworth's girl soccer team win their own mid-season classic tournament for the second straight season, finishing 2-0 in the three team round robin tournament Saturday. The Cavaliers defeated Saginaw Valley Lutheran 2-1 after being down 1-0 at halftime. Jessica Saunders scored twice, including the game winner on a penalty kick with 1:30 left.
The Cavaliers then defeated Mt. Morris 5-0 in a coaching reunion of former teammates. Cavaliers coach Jessyca Mathews and Mt. Morris coach Nicola (Johnson) Yancer were teammates at Carman-Ainsworth from 1993-95. Jones had a hat trick in the victory.
Tournament all-stars for Carman-Ainsworth were Jones, Saunders, Kaylee VanFleet and Courtney Glinka.
